May 3rd 2018 we boarded a plane to Charles de Gaulle Airport in Paris, France. It was the start to our first European Adventure together. Traveling had always been a big part of our goals and we were finally getting a taste of it together.  We visited Paris, Barcelona, Venice, Murano, Burano, Cinque Terre, Florence, Arezzo, and Rome. 

On May 14th, 2018 we were staying in a beautiful Vineyard Villa and decided to explore the area and try out the Terme di Petriolo, a natural hot spring. It was a beautiful 45 minute drive through the tuscan countryside. The hot spring seemed to be a local watering hole; we met a few people who lived nearby and had been visiting this spring for nearly 50 years.  After a lovely visit to this beautiful hot spring we headed back to our villa in Arezzo.  On our drive back Alex pulled into a random field on the side of the road and suggested we take a walk. I was so mesmerized by the views around me that I really wasn't aware of any nervousness Alex might of had. He was super strategic in his outfit choice to "make sure I wasn't suspicious" and had the box hidden in the driver side door (knowing there was no chance of me wanting to drive in Italy). I bent down to pick a few of the wild flowers and when I turned around there he was on one knee and a ring box in his hand.

 

I can honestly admit I have absolutely no idea what happened to the flowers I was holding or what was going on around me. All I could focus on was his sweet smile and passionate words. 

After I somewhat collapsed on his knee crying and hugging him in complete disbelief, he quietly said he loved me with his whole heart but wasn't sure if my answer was yes! I was so emotional I forgot to speak. 

"Of Course It's a Yes!"

We spent the next moments in our happy little bubble before making our way back to the car riding a feeling of 

euphoria all the way back to our villa. 

  

It had always been a dream of ours to get married in a sunflower field in Tuscany but when we were there in May, it was not the right season for sunflowers.  We had arrived 2 months too soon.  So we have decided to challenge ourselves with another milestone adventure and return to Tuscany to exchange our vows.
